Invited Sessions Proposals

Proposals are sought from those wishing to organise an invited session on a specific topic. The proposal of an invited session must contain a summary statement describing the motivation and relevance of the proposed session as well as a short description of the papers in the session.

An invited session may be given in a podium presentation format or in an interactive format. In the former case, it consists of oral presentations provided by a speaker per paper, in the latter it consists of a set of posters presented by one author per paper. The program committee reserves the right to assign accepted invited sessions to either format, podium or interactive. No value ranking is implied by the paper presentation format.

Invited session proposals are made by an (or more) organiser(s) according to the procedure described below. The proposal has to be followed by the individual submission of the full version of all invited papers. Each paper will be individually reviewed and invited session proposals will be rated as a whole. At the discretion of the program committee, individual papers may be removed from a proposed session and placed in the regular program, and appropriate contributed papers may be moved into the session. Likewise, selected papers from a rejected invited session may be placed into the regular program.

The submitted papers can be grouped as follows:

An invited session in the podium presentation format consists of 120 minutes of podium presentations. It may be composed of six 20-minute papers, or of one keynote 40-minute paper plus four 20-minute papers. The keynote paper of an invited session should address the broader setting of the topic of the session, for example, an address concerning emerging trends as well as recent developments.

An invited session in the interactive format consists of 2 hour presentations of posters by the invited speakers. In analogy with invited sessions in the podium format, an invited session in the interactive format must be proposed as a set grouping 6 papers.

Submission Procedure

The submission procedure for (podium or interactive) invited sessions is as follows (see also the instructions at https://ifac.papercept.net/conferences/scripts/start.pl).

Page Limits

The length of each single paper must satisfy the following constraints:

Each paper will have an associated triple (X,Y,Z), where X = maximum number of pages for the initial submission, Y = maximum number of pages for the final submission without extra page fee, Z = maximum number of pages for the final submission with extra page fee (100 € per page).

The congress will accept a limited number of papers based on extended abstracts, to encourage participation from industry and from colleagues outside the traditional academic control community. These abstracts will typically be two pages in length and will be subject to peer review. Authors will present in technical or interactive sessions but the papers will not appear in the congress proceedings.
